The Realities of Life
Dear Friend,
I send warm greetings in the wake of this pandemic. I hope that you and your family are well protected and observing the instructions from the Health Experts. It is just for a while and it will surely pass. We encourage you to stay the tide and remain positive throughout the period.
One thing that we (my Company and I) had consistently talked about that has come to fore with this pandemic is the realities of life. Life is unpredictable. When we ushered in the new year, we never expected that three months into it, we would be restricted to our homes! But this is life and the good news is that it has happened before (maybe not in our lifetime). Life happens and will happen again.
What does this portend to us?
Prior to this lockdown, a lot of us were engrossed in everything except the most important things in our life namely:
- Time
- Family
- Love
We raced against time and felt like commanding it to stop to ensure we met our quarterly targets. We neglected our families and they rarely got the niceties which lasted less than thirty minutes in two days and of course, our love for one another grew cold. We competed against each other; schemed for things that will bring us fame at all cost; some betrayed trust and destroyed relationships because of ephemeral things. However, nature (in reality God) has a way of resetting humanity when we get to the brink of breaking. Today, relationships are mended, families are being rebuilt in love and people that have never thought of assisting have reached out and are reaching out to others in love. This is the true design of life.
My question to you as you mark the end of this first working week of the lockdown in Nigeria is, have you realized the most important things in life? If yes, what have you done to ensure that they get priority attention and provision for the rest of your life? If you have not done anything then know that you are not alone. Allow me to take you through a journey that will make you come out of this lockdown better, wiser and happier.
First off, get a fresh notepad for this our weekly interaction (because you will need one). Write today’s date (the day you read this message) and caption this- ‘The Reality of Life’. Then answer these three questions as extensively as you can. Do feel free to share with me or email me to further discuss this:
Question 1: What are the three most important things in my life?
Question 2: What have I done to ensure that they are protected and happy (if one or two of them are human/living beings)?
Question 3: What can I do to ensure that they are protected and happy even when I am longer alive?
This is a period for self-review, discovery, development and re-launching. You have the time, space and ability. Make the best use of it and keep a focused schedule so that you will not be drawn into any form of negativity that comes with the lockdown.
Do have a great weekend and I look forward to communicating with you next week.
Stay Protected.
Thanks and kind regards.
Your Friend,
Chinwe Nnite
