In His Time
“He made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end” Ecclesiastes 3:11
Beloved, I welcome you to a new week and Trinity Sunday. We are all familiar with the bible passage that says that there is a time for everything. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 explained the different times and seasons as God created it. What I would like you to understand today is that God’s timing for everyone differs. I will not dwell on the regular question that come up when discussing such topics like, has some people missed their time? What I will concentrate on today is to speak to that person who has been asking God, when will my time be. This is a message of hope for someone.
How long more Oh Lord do I have to wait?
I know some of us have asked or are asking this question daily in prayers and with tears in our eyes because of the circumstances we are faced with in life. Brethren, I want you to know that what is making you ask that question is clear to God and He is with you in the situation- cheer up. You are not alone for when:
Paul, the great apostle cried out to God for healing, a healer who had a health condition, God said to him, my grace is sufficient for you. 2 Corinthians 12:9, ‘And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.’ If God had healed him, the power of Christ would not have been made manifest in him the way it happened. God knew the perfect time and until Paul’s death, ulcer didn’t have power over him.
Elizabeth and Zechariah cried out. It was recorded that they were righteous yet Elizabeth was barren. Luke 1:6-7, ‘And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. 7 But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well advanced in years. The child that came from them was a special one that had to come at a particular time. A forerunner to our Saviour. John had an important role to play hence could not have arrived a minute earlier. Did you know that he acknowledged Jesus Christ right in his mother’s belly when Elizabeth met Mary? Luke 1:41-44, ‘And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! 43 But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
The Disciples were scared after the death, resurrection and ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ and at God’s appointed time, He released the Holy Spirit on them which released boldness to preach and carry out their ministry. Acts 2:1-4, ‘When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Jesus Christ had the power to release the Holy Spirit on them before ascension but that was not God’s time. The Power came at the right time.
The wait was worth it for all those that got their release at God’s appointed time. yours will be worth it if you can trust God and His timing. Remember, out timing is not the same as His. Psalms 90:4, ‘For a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night.’ and 2 Peter 3:8 ‘But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.’
Don’t attempt to speed up the time?
Without repeating one of my previous posts, I want to remind us that as humans, we have the tendency to want to speed up things. Impatience is a murder of joy. Listen to me beloved, if you truly believe God, then do not try to help Him. If He has not made any promise to you on the matter, go ahead and do as your Spirit directs but if God has spoken and you are clear that it is Abba, Father, I beg you, do not hasten the time. The glory is always greater. Do not be deceived by those who tell you that you are wasting your time. Sarah did it and the world is still paying for her impatience. Genesis 16:2-4, ‘So Sarai said to Abram, “See now, the Lord has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai. 3 Then Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan. 4 So he went in to Hagar, and she conceived. And when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress became despised in her eyes.
I will not bore you with true life stories of people that tried to help God or hasten the time. It always does not end well. Beloved, wear the virtue of patience today.
What should I do while I wait?
The question should be, what has God called you to do on earth? If you are living out your purpose, then whatever it is that is causing you this pain will not have much impact on you. However, we as human cannot totally live outside our environment. Even though we may be focused on our calling, there are some agents prepared to remind us of those things that we should have that we do not. Has someone asked you why you are not married yet? Why you have not given birth yet? Why you are not as prosperous as your mates? Has someone mocked your belief in Jesus Christ just because you have fallen short of the world’s expectation in terms of the ideal human life cycle? Be patient because others that were before you were mocked. There is a popular saying that ‘it is not how far but how well.’
So, while you wait, wait like the believer that you are. Wait in:
- Prayers: 2 Corinthians 2:11b reminds us, ‘for we are not ignorant of his devices.’ We know that the devil will always try to manipulate, delay, frustrate, discourage and use all his evil schemes on us. We sign up for war immediately we give our lives to Jesus Christ. The bible stated that in Matthew 11:12, ‘And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.’ So we must fight the battle and consistently pray about the things we desire until we receive them. Remember Daniel had to be in the place of prayer for twenty-one days before his answers got to him. Daniel 10: 12-13, ‘Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.’ There are powers that fight against our joy and blessings and only those that are warriors in the Spirit prevail. Ephesians 6:12, ‘For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places’. The language the spiritual understands is fervent prayers. James 5:16b, ‘the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.’
- The Word: You need to discover the promises of God concerning you in His word and pray it. If you do not discover, believe, understand, meditate on it, you may pray amiss. The word of God is the power of God. When you remind Him of His promises, He will surely fulfill it in your life in His time. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, ‘All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good’
- Your Ministry: Beloved, all that counts in eternity is how you lived out your purpose on earth. The marriage, children, money, fame and all does not count. Again, God finds His own in their service to Him to bless them. David was found where he was tending to his father’s sheep; the Hebrew midwives were found where they obeyed God above man; Saul was found where he went to find his father’s lost ass; Rebekah was found while tending to her father’s sheep; all the Disciples of Christ were found in their place of work or devotion. Be focused on your calling. If you have not found your calling, then pray about it and until you get a revelation on it, do whatever good and legal work your hands find doing with all diligence. Colossians 3:23-24, ‘And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,’ knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.’
God is never late
God is too faithful to fail. There is nothing impossible with Him. Luke 1:37, ‘for with God, nothing will be impossible’. There is nothing too hard for God to do. Jeremiah 32:27, ‘Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?’. He created the universe, whatever your worry or pain point is, is too small for Him to handle. Trust Him, allow His timing, stay committed through prayers, the word and your ministry, your joy cometh. He never fails. In His time, He makes all things beautiful. He will do it for you too in Jesus Christ name, Amen.
Beloved, if you do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ then that is a place to start. Reach out for Him now that you have the time? Pray the prayer of repentance below:
If you have not given your life to Jesus Christ, please bow your head and say this prayer, ‘Lord Jesus, I come in total humility and ask that You forgive me all my sins. I acknowledge that You died to save me from the power of sin and death. I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. I pray that You release the Holy Spirit of promise to guide me into all truth to enable me live a life pleasing to You every day of my life. All these I pray in Jesus Christ name, amen’.
